OUTBOUND IN ONTARIO

Outbound in Ontario is an 8-day experiential heritage education journey across southwestern Ontario, created to help young people remember, celebrate, and honour African Canadian history.

Travelling from Toronto to Amherstburg, participants follow the Underground Railroad, visiting historic areas of settlement, freedom communities, churches, museums, cemeteries, Afro-Indigenous farms, and cultural landmarks along the way.

Participants experience Ontario as a living classroom, learning from elders, historians, community leaders, and the land itself. Through each stop, they learn about the resistance, courage, and vision of African-descended communities, while reflecting on who they are, where they come from, and their responsibility to carry these stories forward.
